Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and ethically-driven OSINT Researcher Intern for a 3-month position. This role is specifically designed for students currently enrolled in Human Rights, International Law, or Political Science programs who wish to apply their academic knowledge to real-world investigations.
The successful candidate will use Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques to identify, verify, and document incidents of human rights abuses. This work is critical in building archives that can eventually support legal proceedings, advocacy, and historical record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection: Monitor social media, satellite imagery, and public databases to identify potential human rights violations.
Verification: Utilize digital forensic techniques to verify the authenticity of photos, videos, and reports (geolocation, chronolocation, and source analysis).
Documentation: Maintain rigorous logs and databases of findings in accordance with international standards for digital evidence.
Reporting: Assist in drafting investigative reports and briefings on specific regions or types of violations.
Candidate Requirements
Academic Status: Currently a student (undergraduate or postgraduate) studying Human Rights or a related legal/political field.
Analytical Mindset: Strong research skills and the ability to connect disparate pieces of information.
Integrity: A deep commitment to human rights and the ethical handling of sensitive or distressing information.
Language: Fluency in English is required.
