Internship Opportunity: Social Media Researcher

(Human Rights Communication)

Company: Collective Security Mindset (CSM)

Location: Remote / Online - Position Type: Praktikum (Unpaid / Volunteer)

Duration: 3 Months - Focus: Human Rights, Communication, International Law

About Us

At Collective Security Mindset, we bridge the gap between technical security and humanitarian efforts. Our mission is to empower individuals and organizations through shared knowledge and robust defense strategies. We are currently expanding our efforts to support the documentation and registration of human rights violations globally, ensuring that evidence is preserved and justice is made possible through meticulous digital investigation.

The Role

This isn't your typical "post and ghost" social media internship. You won't just be looking for likes; you’ll be looking for patterns. You will support our research team by investigating how threat actors use social platforms for reconnaissance, influence operations, and social engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Threat Intelligence Mapping: Monitor social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Reddit, etc.) to identify emerging social engineering trends and "vishing/phishing" lures.

  • Behavioral Analysis: Research how different demographics interact with security messaging and what triggers "security fatigue."

  • Content Support: Assist in translating complex research findings into engaging, educational content for our community and clients.

  • OSINT Investigations: Conduct Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) research to demonstrate how much "digital footprint" a typical user leaves behind.

  • Trend Reporting: Prepare weekly briefs on high-profile data breaches and the social media discourse surrounding them.

Who You Are

  • The Digital Detective: You have a "Sherlock" mindset. You enjoy digging deep into threads and profiles to find the "why" behind the "what."

  • Security Minded: You have a foundational interest in cybersecurity, psychology, or sociology.

  • Communicator: You can take a 20-page whitepaper and summarize its most important points into five punchy bullet points.

  • Ethics-First: You understand the sensitivity of OSINT and research, maintaining the highest level of integrity and privacy standards.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a degree in Cybersecurity, Psychology, Criminology, Communications, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with social media analytics and search operators (Boolean search).

  • Strong writing skills with a touch of wit and a lot of clarity.

  • Knowledge of basic cybersecurity principles (MFA, Social Engineering, Phishing) is a major plus.

Why Join CSM?

  • Real Impact: Your research will directly contribute to the training modules we use to protect organizations.

  • Mentorship: Work directly with experts in social engineering and human-centric security.

  • Flexible Environment: We value results over "butt-in-chair" time.

  • Build Your Portfolio: You’ll leave with published research contributions and a deep understanding of the "Human Layer" of security.

How to Apply

Think like a researcher! Instead of just a standard cover letter, send us your resume along with a one-paragraph breakdown of a recent social media trend or scam you’ve observed and why it’s effective from a psychological perspective.
